Former World champion Pankaj Advani advanced to the quarter-finals of the Asian Billiards Championship in Doha on Monday.

The Indian ace beat Hwang Chul Ho of Korea 39-100, 100-12, 101-69, 101-24 to .maintain a clean slate after four league matches in Group D.

He made the knock-out phase of the competition with a round remaining in the preliminary stage, being played on a round-robin format.

The Indian, who won the Asian Games gold medal last December in Doha, will play Myanmar's Aung Htay in his last league match, which will decide the group leader.

Another Indian in the fray, Rupesh Shah, also made it to the lat eight stage a comfortable victory over Mehdi Rasekhi of Iran. He won 101-58, 103-36, 100-29.

He will meet Singapore's Peter Gilchrist, who beat Bashar Hussain of Qatar 101-8, 101-0, 100-46.
