Mahesh Bhupathi and Radek Stepanek saved three match points before going down to top seeds Mike and Bob Bryan in the doubles second round at the Hamburg Masters on Thursday.
The American twins came back from a set down to beat Bhupathi-Stepanek 6-7 (4), 6-3, 14-12 in an hour and 42 minutes.
The Indo-Czech pair saved three match points in the match tie-break, one on the Bryan serve, before they bowed out of the Masters series. Bhupathi-Stepanek were ill-served by six double faults in the match to just one ace.
They had beaten Andrei Pavel of Romania and Alexander Waske of Germany 6-3, 6-2 in the first round.
