Anup Sridhar waged a fierce battle against 10th seed Wei Ng of Hong Kong before going down in a men's singles quarter-final at the Thailand Open Badminton Championships in Bangkok on Friday.
Sridhar, who performed consistently throughout the tournament, lost 19-21, 21-18, 21-4 after a neck and neck battle that lasted nearly an hour.
The Indian shuttler had a flying start as he pocketed the nail-biting first game in style. Wei, however, restored parity by winning the equally engrossing second game.
The top-seeded Wei then used his superior skills to win the decider rather easily and move into the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, he will meet second seed Hong Chen of China.
