Salgaocar win MUPC qualifying round

Goa's Salgaocar Sports Club won the South and West Zone qualifying round of the Nike-MUPC under-15 football tournament at the Nehru stadium in Chennai on Saturday.

They beat Cosmos, Tiruvallur, by a 15th minute goals, scored by Pandhari Chopdekar off a pass from Godfrey Silva.

Salgaocar and their other three semi-finalists – Cosmos, Mahindra United and Sporting Clube de Goa -- move to the final phase of the competition to be held later in Goa, where they will be joined by the semi-finalists from the North-East Zone tournament to be held in Chandigarh.
