Dudu Omagbemi's last-minute goal guided Sporting Clube de Goa to a 2-1 victory over defending champions Dempo to help them move to the top of the table in the Goa Football Association Professional League, at Duler ground, Mapusa, on Saturday.

Sporting, who led 1-0 at half-time, scored through Joe Rodrigues and Dudu Omagbemi. Dempo reduced the margin through Joaquim Abranches.

Even as Dempo had the lion's share of exchanges and scoring opportunities, it was Sporting who took the lead in injury time of the first half. Rajesh Meetei sent a cross from the left deep into the rival box which beat the entire Dempo defense. An unmarked Joe Rodrigues tapped the ball, which hit the post before finding the net.

But Dempo soon found the equaliser after the change of ends through Joaquim Abranches off a cross by Anthony Pereira in the 52nd minute.

Sporting struck in the dying moments through star striker Omagbemi off a free-kick.

The victory put Sporting in a strong position to clinch the title as they move to the top of the table with 16 points from seven matches. Dempo are behind them with 13 points from as many matches.
