Leander Paes and the Czech Republic's Martin Damm advanced to the second round of the men's doubles at the US Open tennis championship with an easy victory over Petr Pala and Robin Vik on Friday.
The sixth-seeds beat the Czech pair 6-1, 6-2.
In the next round Paes and Damm meet Alexander Peya and Bjorn Phau, who beat the United States Phillip Simmonds and Jesse Witten 7-5, 6-4.
The Indian star however lost in the mixed doubles later in the day.
Paes and Samantha Stosur of Australia, the third seeds, were beaten by Belarussians Max Mirnyi and Victoria Azarenka in the first round. They lost 5-3, 2-6, 5-10.
