Michael Schumacher raced into history on Sunday. The seven-times champion reached the end of the road, finishing a commendable fourth in the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The Ferrari ace started the season's concluding race in 10th place and was fifth when he suffered a puncture as he passed the Renault of Italian Giancarlo Fisichella. He then fought his way from the back of the field with one of the most stirring drives of his 16-year career.
After all the din had settled, he left Formula One with seven titles, 91 wins and a string of records that may never be beaten.
'Michael you are the champion, today and forever,' declared one banner at Interlagos. Another one read: 'Thanks for all the emotions.'
Certainly, there were plenty of them, both good and bad, since the German made his debut for Jordan at the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix.
Join us in thanking the champion for those memorable moments.
