Sania Mirza of India has been seeded third at the Tashkent Open, the Tier-IV WTA Tour event, to be held in Tashkent from Monday.
Sania, ranked 59 when the draw for the event was made on Saturday, is seeded behind Maria Elena Camerin of Italy (47) and Elena Vesnina of Russia (51).
Her first-round opponent will be Pauline Parmentier of France, a 20-year-old who has been in the Tour for three years and who is currently ranked 201.
Sania comes to Tashkent after a quarter-final finish in the Korean Open at Seoul, losing to Spaniard Virginia Ruana Pascual, after having beaten Martina Hingis in the previous round.
She is expected to arrive in this capital city of Uzbekistan on Monday and will play her first-round match on Tuesday or Wednesday. She has not entered the doubles event.
