The Indian challenge at the Denmark Open badminton tournament at Aarhus came to an end after Chetan Anand [ Images ] and Nikhil Kanetkar bowed out of the men's singles competition at the pre-quarter-final stage.
Kanetkar lost 9-21, 11-21 to Ayob Sairul Amar of Malaysia, while world No 30 Anand was beaten by China's Chen Hong, ranked sixth in the world, 16-21, 15-21.
In the women's singles, Aditi Mutatkar [ Images ] lost 13-21, 14-21 to Lu Lan of China in the second round.
The women's doubles pair of Jwala Gutta [ Images ] and Shruti Kurien went down 21-18, 21-14 to Novita Jo and Polii Greysia of Indonesia in the second round.
