India would aim for a bronze medal finish at the prestigious Sultan Azlan Shah hockey tournament starting from June 18 in Kuala Lampur.

"We are confident of at least bagging the bronze. We have some good players and we would put up a good show," assistant coach Harendra Singh said on New Delhi.

"Some good teams are playing in the championship but we have got one-and-a-half months to prepare the boys so we cannot give any excuse for our performance," he said.

The Indian hockey Federation on Tuesday named a 32-member probable list for a training camp ahead of the championship and Singh expressed satisfaction with the selection of the players for the Bangalore camp.

"IHF has named the best available squad and it's a good sign for things to come," he said.

Striker Prabhjot Singh and Deepak Thakur were recalled to the squad whereas  midfielder V S Vinay, Viren Rasquinha, Bimal Lakra and goalkeeper Adrian D'Souza also got a look in.

"We need to instill confidence in the boys and until we give them the responsibility we cannot expect them to respond to challenges," he said.

Coach Vasudevan Baskaran said that the camp was progressing well and the mood was upbeat.

The team will leave for Malaysia on June 15 and will face defending champions Australia on the opening day of the eight-nation tournament.
