Mohammedan Sporting and Goa's Fransa Pax put up a shoddy display and finished with a goalless draw in a tenth National Football League match in Kolkata on Sunday.
The Kolkata team, however, had the consolation of ending their run of defeats as they swelled their points tally to 11 from nine outings, while Fransa moved to four from eight.
In sharp contrast to the previous night's thrilling tie between East Bengal and Sporting Clube de Goa, the insipid football on view acted like a tranquiliser for the spectators who crowded the Salt Lake stadium.
The game was confined mostly to the midfield, but the easiest chance came Sporting's way in the 83rd minute, when Palash Karmakar's incisive centre saw Raman Vijayan unleashing a goal-bound shot, but Fransa custodian Virender Singh brought off a fine save.
Fransa, also got chances and Mohammgo Nisam had three well-directed power-packed long rangers, but Mohd. Sporting goalkeeper Gopal Das rose to the occasion.
Another snapshot from Peter Carvalho was also saved by Das late in the opening session.
