Indian flag hoisted at Commonwealth Games village

The Indian flag was ceremonially hoisted at the Commonwealth Games village during a simple function in elbourne on Monday night.

The 249-strong Indian contingent, including chef-de-mission H J Dora, chairman of the 2010 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Suresh Kalmadi and Indian Olympic Association secretary Radhir Singh attended the ceremony.

Mayor of the Games Village, Peter Haddaw, was also present on the occasion.

The badminton squad and Elite athletes with disability, who arrived on Monday afternoon, also witnessed the moment when the tricolour was unfurled.
