Rafik Khan, chairman of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA), was sent to prison late on Monday after returning from Johannesburg where he was commissioner for a African Champions League game, court officials confirmed.
But they declined to discuss details of the case, saying Khan could still challenge his imprisonment at the High Court. Khan's lawyers and family were not immediately available for comment.
Zimbabwe's government-controlled Herald newspaper said Khan was sentenced to a jail term in 1992 after being found guilty on charges of breaking and stealing from a car in 1989, but his appeal of the conviction was never heard and he remained free.
