Indian Airlines win Ranjit Singh tourney

Sameer Dad scored the only goal of the match as Indian Airlines beat Bharat Petroleum 1-0 to win the Maharaja Ranjit Singh hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium in Delhi [ Images ] on Sunday.

The experienced Dad scored in the 18th minute of the match, which otherwise was a lacklustre affair.

India [ Images ]n Airlines, who played without some of their star players, who are on India duty for the Commonwealth Games [ Images ], won their second domestic title in three months.

In December they won the Nehru hockey tournament at the same venue.

The champions won a purse of Rs 100,000 while the runners-up took home Rs 50,000.

Gurbaj Singh of the winning team was adjudged the man-of-the-match.
