Top seed Alexey Kedriouk of Kazakhstan suffered a shock defeat at the hands of lowly-seeded Indian Ravi Shankar Pathanjali in the first round of the second leg of the ITF Men's Satellite tennis at the DLTA complex in New Delhi on Tuesday.
It was rather an easy outing for 799 seed Pathanjali who toppled the top seed 6-3, 6-3.
Four other Indians, including fourth-seeded Vishal Uppal and sixth-seeded Vinod Sridhar, also made it into the pre-quarters.
Uppal defeated compatriot Vijay Kannan 6-0, 7-5 while Sridhar got the better of Hyun-Woc Nam of Korea 6-3, 7-5.
The two other Indians to advance in the second round were Tushar Liberhan, who fought hard to overpower compatriot Vishal Punna 7-6 (4), 0-6, 6-4, and Purav Raja, who overcame Patrick Tierrc of Philippines 7-5, 7-6 (1).

Doubles: Manuel Jorquera and Federico Torresi (Italy) defeated Hyun-Tae Kwon and Hyun-Woc Nam 6-2 7-6 (5) (Korea).
