Sania Mirza and Leander Paes advanced to the second round of the doubles events with their respective partners at Wimbledon on Thursday.
Sania and Michaella Krajicek of the Netherlands beat Stephanie Foretz of France and Antonella Serra Zanetti of Italy 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, while Paes and Czech Martin Damm were 7-6 (4), 6-3 winners over Janko Tipsarevic and Mikhail Youzhny.
The 19-year-old Hyderabadi, who went down fighting to seventh seed Elena Dementieva in the singles first round, could once again bump into the Russian, who has paired up with Flavia Penetta of Italy in the doubles.
Dementieva and her partner, seeded eighth, will have to defeat Sybille Bramme of Austria and Julia Schruff of Germany in their first round encounter.
