Wedding bells have begun to chime for Dilip Tirkey, India's unassuming hockey captain.
The 29-year-old defender, who has already played in three Olympics, will be tying the knot with Meera, the daughter of a retired central government official at Rourkela on February 6.
The wedding would be held at a church at Hamirpur in the steel city.
Presently busy in the Premier Hockey League at Chandigarh where he is representing Hyderabad Sultans, Tirkey is likely to return to Orissa a few days before the wedding.
"Yes, I am looking forward to the wedding day," the soft-spoken defender told PTI over phone.
Tirkey said he was inviting many of his teammates in the national team, former players and other sportspersons.
One of the biggest sporting heroes from Orissa, Tirkey said he might have to return to the turf soon after the marriage as the Indo-Pak Test series is round the corner.
