Road safety will be the winner when Brazilian Rubens Barrichello makes his Honda Formula One debut in Jerez next week.

"I am starting to drive a little bit too fast on the roads now so I am definitely missing a racing car," the ex-Ferrari driver told his new team's website on Wednesday before the first test in Spain.

Barrichello has not tested since the season-ending Chinese Grand Prix in October because he was under contract to Ferrari until the end of the year and the Italian team would not release him early.

The Brazilian said he was looking forward to a new challenge after six years as seven-times world champion Michael Schumacher's teammate and believed he could win for Honda, who have taken over the former BAR team.

"There is no limit to my imagination," he said.

"Obviously we want to keep our feet on the ground though and with everyone at the team trying to improve last year's car we are in a strong position.

"I can bring some of my experience to improve the whole package and I really believe we can win races this year."

Barrichello said the test programme for the V8-engined Honda RA106, due to be launched in Barcelona on January 25, looked good.

"I am very excited about driving for a new team, especially for Honda, because the reason why I never left Ferrari is because I did not think there was anything better," he added.

"Right now there is something better and I hope that I can help move the team forward and see if I can fulfill my dream of winning the Championship."

BAR failed to win a race in seven seasons while Barrichello's new British teammate Jenson Button has now completed 100 starts without a victory.
