Mohammed Fakhir was named Morocco coach on Saturday to replace sacked Frenchman Philippe Troussier, the national federation (FRMF) said.
"The FRMF has named Mohammed Fakhir as the new national coach. He will soon present the federation with the line-up of his selected aides, including medics," it said in a statement.
Troussier, who coached South Africa and Japan at successive World Cups, was sacked on Friday after two months in charge.
The 52-year-old Fakhir steered Moroccan club Royal Armed Forces to victory in the African Confederation Cup last month.
