Defending champions Sporting Clube de Goa demolished Army XI 4-0 to enter the quarterfinals of Federation Cup football tournament in style on Tuesday.
Ernest Jeremiah scored in the 20th second of the game to open the tally for SCG, while Harmanjot Khabra scored two goals in quick succession in the 31st and 38th minute. Nicolau Borges completed the tally for the Goa outfit with his goal in the 55th minute.
SCG took lead in the very first minute as their forwards rushed towards their goal in a beautiful move with Jeremiah completing the honours via a flick into the goal.
Khabra, who celebrated his 18th birthday on Monday, scored his first goal in the 31st minute through a nice shot from the top of the box.
His second goal came just seven minutes later as he guided a center neatly into the goal beating the Army custodian hands down.
The Defence men lost their appetite after they conceded the fourth goal in the 55th minute when Nicolau Borges' volley from just outside the right top of the penalty box flew past the Army goalkeeper and curved into the goal.
The Armymen tried to go in for counter attacks in bits and pieces, but were outclassed and outplayed by the Goa outfit.
SCG is the third team to enter the quarter finals of Federation Cup after Mahindra United and Mohammedan Sporting.
