Athlete Santhi Soundarajan, who is set to be stripped of her Asian Games silver medal in 800m, was on Monday honoured and given a prize money of Rs 15 lakhs by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

Tamil Nadu government had announced prize money for the medal winners from the state but despite the news of Santhi failing a gender test; it went ahead with presenting the award to her.

Middle distance runner Santhi, who failed a gender test and was sent back home before the closing ceremony, refused to comment on the incident.

"I do not want to talk about it," she said when asked about the failed tests.

The Indian chess team captain K Sasikiran, squash player Sourav Ghosal and Anju Bobby George were the other players who were awarded prizes at the function.

Sources in the Indian contingent said Santhi's adverse report has been sent to the Asiad jury which will formally decide to strip her of the medal.
