Indian rowers concluded their campaign on a bright note with an improved performance to net two silver medals in the men's singles Sculls and Fours event at the Asian Games in Doha on Thursday.

Bajranglal Takhar bettered his lightweight doubles scull bronze medal finish to win a silver medal clocking 3 minutes and 39.43 seconds in the singles Sculls event.

Although the Indian was leading initially, he was pushed to second place at the half-way stage by Korea's Eun Chul Shin, who maintained the advantage and went on to win the gold in 3:38.04.

Kazakhstan's Mikhail Garnik bagged the bronze medal in 3:44.58.

Takhar was, however, disappointed to finish second despite a superb start.

"It was my wish to come first but I could not. I was first upto the 250m mark but after 500m the Korean went ahead and I could not catch up," he said.

"I dedicate the medal to the people watching this event," he added.

In the Fours event, the team of Dharmesh Sangwan, Jenil Krishnan, Sukhjeet Singh and Satish Joshi finished second behind Japan while Indonesia were third.

The Indians covered the race distance in 3:08.98 seconds which was around four seconds more than the champions Japan's timing of 3:04.48. Indonesia clocked 3:09.83 to win the bronze.

The team was satisfied with the results, saying they tried their best in the event.

"Everything was alright. We had good start. We took the lead in the beginning itself," Joshi said.

"We tried and did our best," said Krishnan.

India finished fifth in the rowing event with three medals -- two silver and one bronze -- while China topped the medal tally with six medals -- five gold and one bronze.

Japan and Uzbekistan finished second and third with five and two medals respectively.
