India started their campaign in the Asian Games women's handball competition on a disastrous note losing 19-56 to title aspirants China in a Group A league match at the Al Gharafa Indoor Hall in Doha on Wednesday.
The strong Chinese team showed no mercy as they carved out an emphatic victory to take the top position in the group with two points.
The Indians gave a better account of themselves in the first half which ended 29-11 in favour of China but their opponents did not allow them any chances in the second session.
Min Wang was the top scorer for the Chinese with seven points while for India, Anita Kumari was the notable performer scoring 13 goals in 21 attempts.
India will take on Kazakhstan in their next league match on Friday, while China play Uzbekistan.
