A hat-trick by striker Dipendu Biswas and excellent gamesmanship by medio Dharamjit saw Mohun Bagan drub Chirag United 4-1 in the IFA Premier League in Kolkata on Thursday.
Dipendu and Dharamjit combined well, tearing apart the Chirag defence and scoring at will, while Brazilian striker Du netted a gem of a goal from a header.
Chirag's Asim Das scored the lone goal for his side just after the break.
The first goal for the green and maroon brigade came in the seventh minute. Du headed a ball into the penalty box after getting a pass from Dharamjit. Dipendu made no mistake in converting it into a goal.
In the 17th minute, Dipendu scored again from a Dharamjit corner with a strong right-footer.
Chirag United got its consolation goal immediately after the lemon break when Asim flicked in a pass by teammate Shankar Roy Choudhury.
Stung by the set-back, Bagan players piled up more pressure on the Chirag defence and got the result just four minutes later when an excellent header by Du from a Dharamjit free-kick entered into the net.
Bagan's fourth goal and Dipendu's hat-trick came in the last minute when his right-footer from a corner by Dharamjit found the net.
Dipendu was adjudged the man of the match.
