Mahindra United moved to the top of the National Football League table after beating Sporting Clube de Goa 1-0 at the Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, Goa, on Friday.
S Venkatesh scored the all-important goal in the third minute of added time in the first half to give the Mumbai side their third straight 1-0 victory, the previous two being against JCT and East Bengal.

In the process, Mahindra avenged the 0-1 defeat they suffered in the first meeting earlier in the tournament.
Mahindra have 29 points from 13 matches, one more than East Bengal, who have played 14 matches.
Sporting Clube, who suffered their third defeat in 12 matches, have 19 points.
