Gerrard is PFA player of the year

Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard [ Images ] was named the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year on Sunday.
The award capped a fine weekend for Gerrard after Liverpool beat Chelsea [ Images ] 2-1 on Saturday to reach the FA Cup final.
Last year the award went to Chelsea captain John Terry [ Images ]. Arsenal's [ Images ] Thierry Henry [ Images ] won in 2003 and 2004.
Manchester United's [ Images ] Wayne Rooney [ Images ] won the Young Player of the Year award on Sunday.
