Combined Sports Authority of India XI rallied from a 0-2 deficit to put it across Oil and Natural Gas Corporation 5-2 in an all-Delhi second round encounter in the 44th Bombay Gold Cup hockey tournament in Mumbai on Monday.
After ONGC went ahead through goals from Rajdeep Singh (10th minute) and Amarjeet Pratap (27th), SAI fought back to draw level through strikes from Shahid Shaikh (29th) and Elpin K Tete (39th).
SAI again fell in arrears when ONGC's Sandeep Antle notched a field goal in the 46th minute, but stormed their way to victory with field goals from Shashi Kant (48th), Shadab Khan (54th) and captain Osam Ur Rehman (67th).
In another second round encounter, local outfit Indian Navy shocked Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Jalandhar, 2-1, the winning goal coming from the stick of Amrit Kiro off a penalty-corner, taken in the ninth minute of the second half.
Navy went ahead through a field goal by Rajan Lakra in the 17th minute, which was neutralised by Avtar Singh (Jr) in the 30th minute.
In three other first round encounters, local team Central Railway swamped Maharaja Ranjit Singh Academy, Amritsar 8-0, Northern Railway (Delhi) ousted former champions Tata Sports Club of Mumbai 4-1 and Punjab State Electricity Board (Patiala) edged Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers (Mumbai) 5-4.
