Manavjit Singh Sandhu qualified for the final of the men's trap event with a total of 48 out of 50 at ISSF World Cup shooting competition in Qingyuan, China, on Tuesday.
Manavjit, who won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games, shot two rounds of 24 each to be placed seventh on the day one of the competition.
Massimo Fabbrizi of Italy and Janne Kirvesmaki were bang on target, carding cent per cent scores.
Matthew Wallace of the United States and Michael Mittermayr of Austria went off the target in their first qualification round, scoring 49 each, while David Kostelecky of the Czech Republic and
Manuel Silva of Portugal tied with Manavjit despite perfect second round scores.
Among the Indians, Birendeep Sodhi began well with an impressive 25 but his firing went awry in the second round following which he finished a distant 25th with 47 points.
Anwer Sultan was way behind with a 45 (22+23).
The final involves three rounds of 25 shots each.
