US Open mixed doubles champion Mahesh Bhupathi, along with Justin Gimelstob of America, entered the quarter-final of the Thailand Open in Bangkok on Wednesday.
The Indo-American pair edged out Robby Ginepri and Gilles Muller 6-5(1), 6-5(1) in the first round.
Bhupathi and Gimelstob are both looking to pick up their second doubles title of 2005. Bhupathi won at the beginning of the year in Sydney with Jonas Bjorkman, and Gimelstob collected his 13th career doubles title two weeks ago in Beijing with Nathan Healey.
Bhupathi and Gimelstob will next face the South African duo of Jeff Coetzee and Chris Haggard, who upset fourth seeds Gaston Etlis and Martin Rodriguez of Argentina 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.
