Surf Excel Hungamathon 2005, a fun-filled mini-marathon for school children, will be held on October 23, at Bandra Reclamation in Mumbai, and on October 30, at Delhi's J N stadium.
Over 15,000 children are expected to participate in the event, being held under the aegis of the Maharashtra Amateur Athletic Association, for Mumbai, and Delhi State Athletic Association, in Delhi.
Eleven-times National 100 metres champion Adille Sumariwalla, who is the general secretary of the MAAA, said his association "is committed to the development of athletics in the state and will extend all the support of the cause of athletics promotion".
'Hungamathon will provide a platform for kids to showcase their sporting talent and spirit and experience the joy of running,' added the former Olympian.
Participants will be divided into two age categories: 8 to 12 years and 13 to 15 years; while the run will be divided into three categories: Speeders - for aspiring athletes, Funners - for kids who want to run just for fun and Fancy Runners - for kids who love to dress crazy.
One most crazily dressed kid in the Fancy Runners category in both age groups will win exciting prizes. Individual category winners are entitled to win 10 prizes in each category and also points for his/her school. The school with the maximum number of points across the above categories will win the Inter-school 'Surf Excel Hungamathon' rolling trophy.
Entry forms can be had from Planet M outlets in Mumbai and Delhi, or by logging on to www.hungamathon.indiatimes.com.
