Top seed Anastasia Myskina crushed the challenge of fellow Russian Galina Voskoboeva to advance into the last eight of the Sunfeast Open in Kolkata on Thursday.

Myskina surrendered only one game in the match, winning her second round match 6-0, 6-1.

After being blown over in the first set, Voskoboeva took a game off Myskina in the second game of the second set but drew blanks thereafter.

The Russian, who has not won a single WTA title in 2005,  will face the only Indian remaining in the fray, Shikha Uberoi, in the quarterfinals on Friday. Shikha will be hoping that Myskina will tire out after back-to-back matches in singles and doubles on Thursday.

The Uberoi sisters, Shikha and Neha, beat Chia Jung Chuang and Rika Fujiwara 6-4, 6-2 in the doubles encounter.

Second seed Elena Likhovtseva overcame US-based Indian Sunita Rao in a 6-3, 6-1 victory earlier in the day.

Croatia's Karolina Sprem had to struggle through her second-round match. She was checked by Vilmarie Castellvi of Puerto Rico before completing a 7- 5, 3- 6, 6-1 victory.

Sania Mirza and Virginia Ruano Pascual were due to play their doubles match against Vilmarie Castellvi and Sunitha Rao later in the evening.

Results: Anastasia Myskina bt Galina Voskoboeva 6-0, 6-1; Karolina Sprem bt Vilmarie Castellvi 7- 5, 3- 6, 6-1; Elena Likhovtseva bt Sunitha Rao 6-3, 6-1, Sybille Bammer bt Marina Elena Camerin 1-6, 7-6, 6-3, Sofia Arvidsson bt Antonella Serra Zanetti 6-2, 6-1, Neha Uberoi/Sikha Uberoi bt Chia Jung Chuang/Rika Fujiwara 6-4, 6-2
