Paes-Navratilova lose

The star pair of Leander Paes [ Images ] and Martina Navratilova was ousted by Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia and Montenegro and Katarina Srebotnik of Slovakia in the mixed doubles quarterfinals of the US Open [ Images ] on Monday.

Paes and Navratilova, seeded seventh, lost a tight third set tie-breaker to concede the match 6-7(2), 7-5, 6-7(9) in over two hours.

Zimonjic, who was Paes' men's doubles partner, and Srebotnik served better than their more experienced opponents and squeeezed out two tie-break wins to advance into the semi-finals.
