The team's French coach Jean Tigana said in Tuesday: "I did not see what happened with Ailton, but I will not criticise the referee's decision. If our player was shown a red card there, we have to believe the referee."

Besiktas also fined their Turkish international midfielder Koray Avci, who was sent off in stoppage time, $22,140.

Besiktas are fourth in the standings after beating Sivasspor 3-1. Both sides are on 22 points, 16 behind leaders Fenerbahce.
