India's Boniface Prabhu won the doubles title in the 2005 Japan Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships (Quad Division) Super Series in the company of his New Zealand partner Richard Paige.
The duo defeated the Japanese pair of Hirano and Kawano 6-1, 6-0.
The Bangalore-based Prabhu lost the singles final to the hosts' Kakinokihara Ryuji 4-6, 1-6.
"It's a good beginning for me as the Super Series is equivalent to the Grand Slam. I am taking part in the forthcoming tournaments -- French, Dutch and Belgium championships," he said after winning the doubles title.
A winner of the 2004 Florida Open Wheelchair Tennis Championship last year, Prabhu, currently ranked 40 in the world, has been playing wheelchair tennis for a decade now.
He had in the past reached the final of the US, British, French and Australian Opens.
