Real Madrid issued a statement on Sunday saying they had no interest in signing Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand or any other member of the club's squad.
"Real Madrid have written to Manchester United denying that they have any interest in signing Rio Ferdinand or in any other player that belongs to the English club," read a statement on the club's website.
The Spanish Primera Liga side, who saw arch-rivals Barcelona clinch the Spanish title on Saturday, said they were responding to reports in the British press that they wanted to recruit the England international.
Real signed England centre-back Jonathan Woodgate from Newcastle United for close to 20 million euros ($25.69 million) last August, but the 25-year-old has yet to make his debut for the club because of a long-term thigh injury.
