Real Madrid winger Luis Figo is returning to international football, the Portuguese Soccer Federation said on Friday.

Figo, who retired from playing for Portugal after Euro 2004, has been called up for the World Cup qualifier against Slovakia on June 4 in Lisbon, the federation said on its website.

The 32-year-old said last month he was reconsidering his decision to retire from the national team after struggling to hold down a place in the starting lineup at Real Madrid.

He was dropped to the bench for the Primera Liga clash against his former club Barcelona last month.

"I left the national team because I was tired and wanted to concentrate on playing for my club. But as I'm not playing at the moment my feelings have changed," he said last month.

"I know that I can play at the top level for another two more years and I will do that wherever I feel useful."

The former World and European Player of the Year hinted last month that he might even leave Real Madrid before his contract expires in June 2006.

Figo is Portugal's most capped player, with 110 appearances since 1991, and their third-highest scorer with 31 goals.
