Italy's [ Images ] Roberto Rosetti will take charge of the opening match at the Confederations Cup between Argentina and Tunisia in Cologne on Wednesday.
FIFA [ Images ] named the referees and assistants for the first nine matches of the competition after a meeting of the referees committee in Frankfurt on Monday.
Carlos Amarilla of Paraguay will referee the evening match on the tournament's opening day, the showpiece clash between hosts Germany [ Images ] and outsiders Australia [ Images ] in Group A.
FIFA also announced on Monday that Markus Merk of Germany and Russia's [ Images ] Valentin Ivanov would not be officiating at the Confederations Cup. They will take charge of matches at the World Youth Championship in the Netherlands instead.
