India [ Images ] can expect a Formula One Grand Prix [ Images ] within three years, according to the sport's commercial supremo Bernie Ecclestone [ Images ].
The Briton told the BBC that the country would definitely have a race, adding: "It's just a case of where."
Mumbai [ Images ] is the most likely venue, said Ecclestone, although Hyderabad and Kolkata [ Images ] have been mooted as possible locations.
India will have its first Formula One driver this year with 28-year-old Narain Karthikeyan [ Images ] signing for Jordan, who have been taken over by Russian-born Canadian businessman Alex Shnaider's Midland Group.
International Automobile Federation (FIA) president Max Mosley said this week that he felt sure India would host a race if Karthikeyan went well.
