The Indian challenge in the doubles event at the WTA Hyderabad Open came to an end on Thursday when the pair of Sania Mirza and Shikha Uberoi crashed out in the quarter-finals.
The Chinese pair of Zi Yan and Jie Zheng prevailed over the Indians, winning 7-5, 6-1 to advance to the semi-finals.

They will take on Akgul Amanmuradova of Uzbekistan and Tatiana Panova of Russia, who had little trouble in making the grade, as their opponents Martina Navratilova and Ana Lena Groenefeld conceded the match following a knee injury to the latter.
