Jordan Managing Director Collin Koles has defended signing up rookie drivers in his team for the upcoming season saying the two drivers were "a notch above many of the established drivers in F1".

"Narain (Karthikeyan) and Tiago (Monteiro) are the best right now. They are a notch above many of the already established drivers in F1," Koles was quoted as saying on the official Formula One website.

"But that is the problem with the F1 establishment, their heads are so much in the clouds that their feet have left the ground," he added.

Koles said Narain would be a very beneficial bet since India is a huge market.

"With the appointment of Narain and Tiago we open new worlds for Formula One. Particularly in the case of Narain, India with its huge market potential will fall entirely under the spell of Formula one," said Koles.

He also said, "I expected positive signals from the fresh blood injection. But in reality it is natural generational handover that happens everywhere.

"What I anticipate for this year is consolidation and development of a viable business model that will further cement the role of Formula one racing as the most global sport platform in the coming year," he added.
