Riding on a Dinesh Swar brace, Tollygunge Agragami prevailed 2-1 over Fransa Pax of Goa in a ninth National Football League match in Kolkata on Tuesday.
Fransa seemed vastly superior during the game, maintaining territorial supremacy for most part of the 90 minutes at the Salt Lake stadium, but failed to pierce the Tollygunge defence, which put up a solid show.
The lacklustre exchange saw Tollygunge starting off agressively, and going into the lead in the 25th minute through Shaw, but the visitors bounced back with a series of coordinated moves and restored parity within two minutes as Sebastiao Endro found the target.
The Goans then seized the initiative and were all over their opponents in the second half, with their midfield and upfront combining well, but Tollygunge had the last laugh as Swar struck the winner in the 78th minute to ensure full three points for his team, before a handful of spectators at the giant stadium.
After five matches, Tollygunge now have eight points, while Fransa are a point behind.
