Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore lived up to his reputation and won the gold medal in the double trap event though he could not better his best of 191.0 points at the 49th National Shooting Championships, being held at the Central University Shooting Range in Hyderabad, on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old Army officer, who won the silver medal in the event at the Athens Olympics last year, aggregated 191.0 points, which is not only an event record but also his best notched since 2002.
Ronjan Sodhi of Chattisgarh and Vikram Bhatnagar of Delhi finished second and third in the event.
In the other events, Mohamed Asab of Chandigarh won the junior Double Trap event while the Army's domination with its women's team winning the 50 metre Rifle Prone (ISSF) National Championship. They finished ahead of Railways and Indian Airlines.
Rajkumari of the Army won the gold in 50m Rifle Prone (ISSF) individual women championship while N Saini Devi of Manipur bagged the junior event.
