Substitute Levy Coelho's injury time goal helped Vasco hold Mohun Bagan to a 1-1 draw in the 18th round of the National Football League (NFL) match played at Nehru stadium in Margao on Monday.
The match failed to rise to great heights as both the teams opted for safety first approach in the first half.
Bagan, who came near to scoring in the first half, took the lead in the 68th minute.
Substitute Jerry Ziringma sent a cross from the right to unmarked Robert Mendes da Silva. Robert fumbled at his first attempt but luckly the ball came back after hitting the on rushing keeper Virender Singh and he made no mistake on the rebound.
Vasco retaliated and after two misses, found the equaliser in the injury time. Taking a flag kick, Sidney Rodrigues floated the ball into the box where keeper Subrata Paul punched the ball but only till substitute Levy Coelho who headed in to give Vasco one point.
Vasco, who had better scoring chances in the second half, could have won the match had it not been for keeper Subrata Paul's diving saves off Fabio and Assem K shots.
Reeling under relegtion threat, Bagan have collected 18 points from 18 matches while Vasco, who were lying at the bottom of the table, moved above SBT on 11th place with 14 points from as many matches.
