Ferrer, Andreev in Valencia Open final

Spain's David Ferrer will meet Russia's Igor Andreev in the final of the ATP Valencia Open after the two players breezed through their semi-finals on Saturday.

Ferrer, seeded five in the 340,000 euro ($435,800) claycourt tournament, eased his way to a 6-3, 6-3 victory over fellow-Spaniard Albert Costa.

Seventh seed Andreev beat Spanish qualifier Ivan Navarro Pastor, who knocked out second seed Fernando Gonzalez of Chile in the quarters, in the other semi-final 7-6, 6-2.

Both Ferrer and former French Open champion Costa had had to play rain-delayed quarter-final matches in the morning.

Costa came from a set down to claim an exhausting 6-7, 7-5, 6-1 victory over defending champion Fernando Verdasco, while Ferrer had a much easier time as he saw off Alberto Martin 6-1, 6-4.

The 29-year-old Costa paid the price for his morning exertions and was no match for Ferrer when it came to the afternoon's semi-final. ($1=.7801 Euro)
