Ronaldo took his new girlfriend to watch him training with Brazil on Tuesday while coach Carlos Alberto Parreira thanked her for helping the Real Madrid forward lose weight.

Daniela Cicarella sat on the touchline as the world champions began preparing for Sunday's World Cup qualifier at home to Bolivia and her presence seemed to distract Ronaldo, who repeatedly looked in her direction.

Brazilian and Spanish team Real Madrid soccer star Ronaldo Nazario appears with his girlfriend Daniela Cicarelli after a training sessionBut Parreira said he had no objections and spends several minutes talking to her.

"I thanked her," he said. "Ronaldo is happy, slim and in form."

Three months ago, Ronaldo was repeatedly having to fend off questions about his weight and stormed out of a news conference when an Argentine journalist handed him a book on dieting.

"If I don't score goals, it's because I'm fat," he said at the time. "If I score, it's because I've lost weight."

Ronaldo, whose split up from his first wife Milene Domingues last year after four years of marriage, denied that another wedding was in the air.

"When I get married, you'll know about it," he said.

Ronaldo added he wanted to make another visit to strife-torn Haiti, where Brazil played a friendly two weeks ago.

The Brazilian players were given a rapturous reception as they were driven from the airport to the stadium in Brazilian tanks, which are part of the United Nations peacekeeping force.

"It was a unique sensation and it had a great effect on me," he said.

"I want to go back there and see the happiness of those people again. It was superior even to winning the World Cup. It will remain in the memories of all of us."
