Mourinho critical of Cole

Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho criticised midfielder Joe Cole on Sunday even though he came off the bench to score the winner against Liverpool.

Cole flicked in Frank Lampard's free kick after 64 minutes to clinch Chelsea's fourth 1-0 victory of the season and close the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal to two points.

However, last year's Champions League-winning coach was still far from satisfied with the mercurial Cole who later wasted a good a chance to make it 2-0 when he opted to shoot instead of passing to a team mate.

"He has two faces, one which is fantastic and one I don't like," said Mourinho, who has shown more faith in Cole than former manager Claudio Ranieri.

"He has still got a lot to learn, he has to improve when he is part of a defensive organisation.

"Players have to give an impact on me. They mustn't just try to please the crowd, it's me who picks the squad."

Chelsea have conceded just one league goal this season, but have attracted criticism for their lack of goals -- a cause that was not helped on Sunday by an injury to Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba.

Mourinho said Drogba, who limped off with a groin injury, will not travel for World Cup duty with Ivory Coast and is likely to miss Chelsea's match at Manchester City on October 16.
