A brace from striker Emerson F D'Silva helped Fransa Football Club, Goa, score a 2-0 victory over FC Cochin in a second division match of the National Football League in Bangalore on Saturday.
Fransa, with three wins out of four matches, has kept alive its chances of elevation to the top league, with nine points. FC Cochin, which has lost three matches out of four they played, are out of the reckoning.
The winners led 1-0 at half time.
Fransa shot into the lead in the 30th minute through a lucky goal scored by Emerson F D'Silva.
D'Silva intercepted a pass from Atewusi A-Tokundu and slammed the ball towards the goalmouth, but FC Kochin custodian V Santosh, blocked it, only to see it slipping from his hands and roll slowly into the net.
Fransa went all out in the second half, but could increase its tally only during the third minute of injury time when D'Silva scored through a solo effort.
FC Cochin squandered two scoring chances in the 50th and 65th minutes.
