Akhil Kumar and Jitender Kumar qualified for the Athens Olympics after entering the finals in the flyweight and light-heavyweight categories in the qualifying boxing tournament being held at Gangzhou in China.
As per the rule, the finalists in each weight category qualify for the Olympic Games in August.
Other Indian pugilists, Mohammad Ali Qamar (light flyweight), Diwakar Prasad (bantam weight), Vijender (light weight) and Ramanand (light welterweight), lost their semi-final bouts and bowed out of contention, an Amateur Indian Boxing Association official said on Tuesday.
They have another chance to qualify in the third and last qualifying round, to be held in Lahore from May 5 to 12.
