PSV Eindhoven forward Arjen Robben [ Images ] will join Chelsea [ Images ] for 12 million pounds ($22.42 million) at the end of this season, the English premier league club said on Tuesday.

Dutch news agency ANP reported on Monday that the 20-year-old Dutch international had agreed a five-year contract with Chelsea and the premier league club confirmed they were in talks with PSV over a deal.

The west London [ Images ] club have spent more than 100 million pounds on players since being taken over by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich last year.

English champions Manchester United [ Images ] last month failed to reach an agreement with PSV over the transfer of the pacy winger, who manager Alex Ferguson [ Images ] saw as a long-term replacement for Ryan Giggs [ Images ].

Robben, who joined PSV from Groningen in 2002, has won four caps and scored twice including the winner for the Dutch in a friendly international against the United States last month.

PSV said on Sunday they were close to striking a cooperation deal with Chelsea which would resemble the arrangement Manchester United signed with Belgian club Antwerp in 1998.
