Neha Uberoi, who got a wild card for the Girls' main draw at the Wimbledon, won her first round match by thrashing her Slovakian opponent Ana Jerman 6-2,6-4.
Neha provided the only success for India at Wimbledon on a day that saw Mahesh Bhpathi bow out of the doubles competition.
She will next face 4th seed Shahar Peer (ISR) in her second round match on Tuesday.
Shahar Peer, who made a tremendous impact in the WTA Indian Open at Hyderabad, won the Australian Open in January.
